About T.J. Brown
I fancy myself as a renaissance man of sorts, but maybe I’m best described as a jack of all trades, master of none. I’m a Chicago-area guy who lives and dies with the Cubs and the Bears, argues free-market conservative politics to anyone who cares, works for his family’s bus parts business, and occassionally writes for a local newspaper.
In the last 10 years since graduating from a large Big Ten university, I have been an assistant sports editor, a sportswriter, a marketing guy, a freelance sportswriter, a volunteer for a doomed political campaign, a graduate student, and a volunteer for a local children’s museum. Oh, and I have been a husband since Oct. 4, 2003. I’m still trying to get better at that. And at golf.
I love writing, and some people have claimed that I love the sound of my voice even more. Communicating is what I do. I love nothing more than taking a message and spreading it around. It’s an exciting time for someone like me. I still get a rush seeing my byline in the Daily Herald, and that paper is only circulated throughout parts of Cook, Lake, DuPage, Kendall, Kane and McHenry counties. The thought of us being able to reach audiences anywhere and anytime is thrilling.
